Minerals
Powerful, health-giving mineral and trace mineral supplement formulated by nature for greater bioelectric health and body mineral balancing.
In today's modern, fast-paced society, supplying our bodies with the minerals they require is difficult. Many of the foods we eat are grown in minerally deficient soil. To add to that, modern food processing techniques further strip away important minerals like magnesium, potassium and boron -- minerals that play key roles in our health. The truth is we may be eating a perfectly balanced diet and still be deficient in minerals and trace minerals. Supplementing your diet with Vital Greens can replenish your body with the important nutrients that it may be lacking.
Calcium is the most common mineral in the body, responsible for three pounds or more of total body weight. Most calcium is found in teeth and bones, but it also is needed for blood clotting, nerve cell communication, and muscle movement. Most known for its role in preventing osteoporosis, calcium is also useful in the treatment of gingivitis, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, kidney stones, migraines, pregnancy and PMS.
Magnesium is a mineral that is needed for the formation of bone, proteins, and fatty acids. It is used to make new cells, activate B vitamins, clot blood and form ATP. Magnesium deficiencies are common, often occurring with alcoholism, burns, diabetes, and heart failure. Symptoms of magnesium deficiency include abnormal heart rhythms, muscle weakness, muscle spasms, depression, listlessness, and loss of appetite. Magnesium levels are often low in ADHD patients. The addition of magnesium supplement to the diet appears to reduce hyperactivity. Magnesium levels are also low in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients.
Taken together, Calcium and Magnesium are mild neuromuscular relaxants and may help promote sleep at bedtime, especially if muscle tension contributes to wakefulness.
The minerals Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium, Selenium and Zinc are needed for proper metabolism of food into energy for our cells’ requirements.
Some examples of minerals included are:
- Magnesium: required for bone development and maintenance (aids the uptake of calcium), vital in muscle function including the heart muscle, essential for healthy nerve transmission; involved in hundreds of enzyme reactions.
- Potassium: important for healthy nervous system and regular heart rhythm; works with sodium to control the body’s acid-alkaline water balance.
- Zinc: essential for taste, smell, wound healing, sexual functioning, protein synthesis, fight free radicals which are known to be cancer causing; effective in delivery of vitamins.
- Selenium: vital antioxidant, seriously lacking in many SOIL environments.
Minerals which are not in the soil will not be found in fruit and vegetables.
